TO CELEBRATE the end of a fantastic year the Fashion Buying and Merchandising students at Portobello Institute hosted a special event supporting new Irish talent.
Curated by the group, the event showcased a selection of up and coming Irish designer collections.
Showing on the night were a fab mother/daughter design team Ardmore Jewellery. Inspired by the sea, the collection is a quant mix of handmade gem stone rings and delicate necklaces. The duo works only with solid gold and silver, sourcing fair trade where possible.
QBU is a new and exciting customisable handbag collection by designer and tutor Nicole Jackson. These Italian leather handbags with mix and match straps have six different shapes to choose from and a whopping nine straps in multiple colours. Choose your shape, choose your strap and off you go. The perfect cross bag to jazz up Spring/Summer looks.
Fine Artist Miss-ash-tray works her funky screen prints on to totes. ‘Clouds’, ‘Classic Legs’ and ‘Bits’ are all playful illustrations that the Dublin based artist prints on these fun bags. Screen print is her main medium, but she also makes work in many different ranges including sculpture, digital illustrations, drawing, painting and photography.
Other names showing on the night included Lorraine Fox women’s wear Self-Made, D’Arcy Apparel streetwear and Ionic Silk.
