DUN Laoghaire Pier will be the place to be this summer after no fewer than three open air summer concerts were announced for the June bank holiday weekend last week.
Some classic performers will take to the stage over the weekend including fan favourites Deacon Blue, Madness, Something Happens and the Charlatans.
Headliners Deacon Blue will be joined by special guests Basement Jaxx (DJ Set) and Stereo MCs on Friday, May 31.
Madness will headline on Saturday, June 1 and will be joined by Lightning Seeds and Something Happens. On Sunday, June 2, Primal Scream will perform with special guests The Charlatans and Fun Lovin' Criminals.
Deacon Blue return to Dublin this summer following their spectacular sold out Irish shows last year. Their ‘To Be Here Someday' tour is a celebration of 30 years of greatest hits from ‘Real Gone Kid’, ‘Dignity’ and ‘Chocolate Girl’. Deacon Blue’s concerts are filled with career spanning classics that is not to be missed.
Joining Deacon Blue at Dun Laoghaire Pier are special guests Basement Jaxx (DJ Set) and Stereo MCs.
Basement Jaxx DJ sets always deliver with massive dance floor fillers while Stereo MCs, one of the most successful hip-hop acts to emerge from the UK, will take to the stage to perform some of their global hits from ‘Connected’, ‘Step It Up’, ‘Creation’, ‘Ground Level’, ‘Deep Down & Dirty’ among many others.
On Saturday live favourites Madness are taking their 40th anniversary celebrations to Dublin as they headline Dun Laoghaire Pier with special guests Lightning Seeds and Something Happens.
Madness fans can expect a show filled with hit after hit from their chart topping 40-year catalogue. They've released 12 studio albums filled with greatest hits and live favourites from ‘One Step Beyond’, ‘House of Fun’, ‘Baggy Trousers’, ‘Our House’ and ‘It Must Be Love’.
On Sunday, June 2, Primal Scream, who have released a catalogue of influential, ground-breaking albums over the last three decades including 'Screamadelica', 'Vanishing Point' and 'Riot City Blues, will be joined by special guests The Charlatans and Fun Lovin' Criminals.
The three summer gigs come on the back of Beatyard who announced The Groove Armada and Chvrches will be their headliners for this year’s festival which takes place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, also at Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
The fifth edition of the family-friendly, multi-stage festival takes place over two days on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4, August.
Scandinavian superstar Todd Terje and legendary DJ Grandmaster Flash join headliners Groove Armada live on the Saturday with killer live outfit Jungle and globe-spanning favourite Marc Rebillet taking to the stage on the Sunday 4, alongside headliners Chvrches, with more acts expected to be announced soon.
Meanwhile, a new music and arts festival ‘Love Sensation’ featuring Lily Allen, Clean Bandit, Gossip, Kelis, Mother DJs, Soulé, Horse Meat Disco, has been unveiled for the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on August 17 and 18.
