MEMBERS of the successful Blackrock-based Trojan Swimmers Club made a big splash at a major international event recently.
Under the guidance of Coach Jonathan Preston the swimmers of all ages competed at the McCullagh International Meet in Bangor.
The various teams and individuals set some personal bests as well as breaking a range of team records.
Founded in 1976, Trojan have been involved in teaching swimming lessons to thousands of children in the Blackrock, Stillorgan and South Dublin areas.
Drawing from this background, the competitive swimming club has a proud history of athletic swimming achievement and holds several current Irish records along with a strong history of international and Olympic participation.
Swimmers generally start in learn to swim classes, developing lifelong skills in the water before merging into the competitive squads to national and international level swimming.
Competitive swimming is hard work for both swimmers and parents, however, it fosters enormous personal development opportunities through discipline, attention to detail, camaraderie and fitness.
