A TOTAL of 20 new jobs have been created in Blackrock with the opening of the new Aldi flagship store in the revamped Frascati Shopping Centre.

Ireland rugby stars Rob Kearney and Garry Ringrose took time away from preparations for the weekend’s test match with Argentina as they joined Nicky Byrne and Jenny Greene from RTE 2FM at the glitzy opening in the heart of the Southside suburb.

Large crowds of fans had gathered earlier to see the new look ‘Project Fresh’ store, which follows the recent opening of Aldi Leixlip, as the retailer continues to invest in the greater Dublin area. Aldi will open a new store at Royal Canal Park early next year and has submitted planning applications for an additional store in Swords.

Aldi’s Frascati Shopping Centre Store is part of its €160m store network investment. The retail giant has committed €100m to constructing and opening 20 new stores by the end of 2019.

Speaking at the store opening, Peter Flynn, the manager of Aldi’s new Frascati Shopping Centre outlet, said: “We are delighted to open our new flagship Frascati Shopping Centre store and look forward to welcoming many new customers from the local area.

“Our commitment to our customers is we will never be beaten on price and always provide the best value.”

The new Frascati Shopping Centre store is Aldi’s 20th store in Dublin and features a large shop floor spanning 1,107sqm, 556 shared car parking spaces on the grounds and wide aisles and hi-spec fixtures and fittings.
