Chamber’s new president takes up office

The new President of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber of Commerce, Aileen Eglington.

DÚN Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber’s new President, Aileen Eglington, has vowed to keep local businesses updated in a fast-changing world as part of her new duties.

Aileen, who is celebrating 30 years in business herself as she runs the Marketing Communications/PR company, AE Consulting, is taking up the new office after she was elected President of the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Chamber at its AGM in May.

As well as acting as Chair of the Rural Leader Programme in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, Aileen also serves on both the Secretariat and National Advisory Committee of the PPN (Public Participation Network) and represents the community on the DLR Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) for Economic Development. Aileen is also the Chair of Kilternan Glenamuck Residents’ Association.

Aileen said she recognises the value of keeping businesses updated with regard to new relevant business information in this fast-changing world from both a county and a national perspective.

And with a big increase in Chamber membership as the economy improves, this is key to the DLR Chamber’s focus into 2019 – the Chamber’s 80th year – an exciting milestone for the Chamber and its members.

Aileen is supported by a Chamber council made up of experienced and committed people who come from a range of separate specialist business and corporate backgrounds. She takes over from Pat Neill, Past President, who has just completed a strong two-year term, while Vice President Elect is Brian Crowley of The Alternative Board – a Business/Executive Coach and senior facilitator with The Alternative Board.

Aileen, working with the board, and CEO Gabby Mallon, will focus on keeping the Chamber membership informed of relevant changes to business and law regarding matters that may affect, either positively or negatively, on their business operations. She will also be affording opportunities for the membership to attend relevant seminars and briefings, integrated into the Events Calendar, which includes Motivational Mondays and other networking events.

A highlight of DLR Chamber’s focus is the DLR County Business Awards, spearheaded by Past President Pat Neill, and now in their second year, which are supported by DLR County Council. The awards are now open for entries, with a closing date of June 29.
