IRELAND’S Children’s Hospice, LauraLynn, will host their third annual Summer Fete in Leopardstown this month – and it promises to be bigger and better than ever this year.
Set on the grounds of LauraLynn’s hospice in their specially designed ‘sensory garden’, the event is open to the public and is fun for all ages. Green-fingered grandparents will be delighted with the selection of plants available to purchase, while smaller guests will be thrilled with the wide array of freshly baked cakes, treats and refreshments – as well as the chance to pick up some of their favourite toys at a bargain price and have their face painted.
The afternoon will be filled with music and dancing. Children who join in on the day can take advantage of playing in LauraLynn’s renowned sensory garden and pirate ship. Bigger kids can get involved too and try their hand at a game of chess on the giant chess board. This event is a unique opportunity for members of the public to visit the grounds of LauraLynn and learn more about the charity’s great work
The event will take place this Sunday, May 27, from 12pm– 3pm, and will help towards raising vital funds the charity requires to provide care to children with life-limiting conditions. This year alone, the charity must raise €4.2 million and all money from the Summer Fete will go towards achieving this target.
As the only children’s hospice in the state, LauraLynn provides essential support to families at the toughest of times in their Leopardstown base, in the hospital, in the community or in their home – whatever the child and family wish.
Since opening in September 2011, LauraLynn Ireland Children’s Hospice has provided specialised hospice care to more than 325 children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Unlike a hospital, a hospice provides holistic care to each child which enables them to make the most of every day. This care also extends to the family of each patient who are often dealing with difficult emotional, physical and financial pressures.
