Jacksons to play Dún Laoghaire

Catch the Jacksons in Dún Laoghaire this summer.

THE world-famous Jacksons are set to rock Dún Laoghaire this summer when they arrive in Ireland for their first ever performance.

One of the greatest pop and Motown super groups in the history of live music will take to the stage for this year’s Beatyard Festival over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

It’s hard to believe that such a legendary group will actually be playing live on the Southside of Dublin.

Original members Tito Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Marlon Jackson and Jermaine Jackson will perform all of their mega-hits live with a nine-piece band.

Irish fans can expect an amazing 90-minute show filled with hit after hit including ‘Can You Feel It’, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’, ‘ABC’ and ‘I’ll Be There’.

With five number one albums, 18 number one hits, 17 top 10 albums, and 17 top 40 singles, The Jacksons Live show is set to be one of the hottest tickets in town this summer.

They will join UK dance act Orbital who will headline the Sunday night of the festival while the Sugarhill Gang and Joy Orbison will also be taking to the stage over the weekend.

Formed around 1964, the founding Jackson members included elder brothers Jackie, Tito and Jermaine.

Younger brothers Marlon and Michael would join soon after. They entered the professional music scene in 1967, signing with Steeltown Records and releasing two singles with the Steeltown label. In 1969, the group left Steeltown Records and signed with Motown.

The Jackson 5 was one of the first groups of black American performers to attain a crossover following, preceded by the Supremes, the Four Tops and the Temptations.

They were also the first group to debut with four consecutive number one hits on the Hot 100.

Following the death of Michael Jackson in 2009, the four eldest of the brothers embarked on their Unity Tour in 2012 that saw them perform several major performances into 2017.

This is part of the fourth edition of the family-friendly, multi-stage festival that takes place which takes on the bank holiday weekend, on August 4 and 5 in Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
