A SERIES of Winter of Heritage free guided tours have been unveiled on the Southside.
Locals and visitors to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown are invited to take a step back in time on one of the tours that are runing until February 18.
Some of the most valued heritage sites in the county are included, such as the James Joyce Tower at Sandycove, the most famous building in world literature where James Joyce’s masterpiece begins.
You can also hear the colourful stories behind the 18th century Cabinteely House and the original 17th century house, called The Grange, that would later be renamed Marlay.
There will also be a series of lectures covering topics such as the network of permanent defence towers built around the bay in 1804/5 against an anticipated invasion by the French, the transformation of the coastline from Salthill to Battery bridge, and the houses and architecture of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown.
