DUBLIN Bus has confirmed that extra buses are being put onto key routes in Lucan to meet high commuter demand at peak times.
Local Fianna Fáil TD, John Curran, said he was pleased that management in Dublin Bus had informed him that it will now implement a series of changes to address the issue.
“This has been an on-going issue for many that commute to work, school or university,” Deputy Curran said.
“And particularly as more and more people move to the Lucan area, the level of pressure on our transport infrastructure has intensified.”
According to Deputy Currna, a number of buses were reaching full capacity and as a result, have been unable to stop to pick up for intending passengers at bus stops on busy routes across Lucan.
“I am pleased that having raised it with management, Dublin Bus has now sought to address this issue promptly,” Deputy Curran said.
“I hope commuters see a difference on the ground straight away.
“Adding a number of extra buses to serve routes at peak times is just one of the many measures needed to absorb the growing demand on transport services that will undoubtedly arise once the population increases even further.
“As the development of Clonburris SDZ gets underway I believe it is essential that the Transport Minister and his department urgently improve and strengthen transport links in the area,” Deputy Curran added.
“Responding to the challenges of a growing and working population across Lucan must be a priority.”
