A TRAIN driver from Tallaght has shared a massive €109,000 win in the RTE and National Lottery game show, Winning Streak.
Tom Wynne, from Aylesbury, spun the iconic Grand Prize Wheel and won a whopping €73,000 while carer Lisa Hamilton, from Skerries, bagged €36,000 in prizes on the show.
Before the show Tom said he considered himself a lucky guy.
There is no doubting this as the 46-year-old train driver’s dreams came through when he won the chance to spin the wheel, winning €40,000 in the process, bringing his takings to a huge €73,000.
Tom, who has worked for Irish Rail for the past 27 years, is married to Lorraine for the past 22 years.
They have three adult children, Carl (23), Alan (28) and Chloe (20) who all cheered their dad on in the audience on Saturday along with a posse of family and friends from Tallaght.
When asked about his plans to spend any Winning Streak windfall, Tom said that with Christmas around the corner and two sets of college fees due, his massive win couldn’t have come at a better time.
He also plans to take the Lorraine on a Mediterranean cruise – something they have dreamed about for years.
Meanwhile, his fellow winner, Lisa from Skerries, will be celebrating her 26th birthday this Thursday but says her appearance on Winning Streak was the best birthday present ever.
She went home with €8,000 in cash as well as a holiday to Santorini in Greece, worth €3,000, and a Toyota Corolla, worth €25,000.
She was supported by Harry, her partner of eight years, and their five-year-old son Cameron.
When asked what she would do with any winnings from the show Lisa said that Cameron had that all sorted, with “half of Smyth’s toy store already picked out” ahead of Christmas.
If there is any leftover Lisa would love a shopping holiday to the United States.
Lisa works as a career at Hamilton Park nursing home in Balbriggan, where all her colleagues and resident were cheering her on Saturday night.
Winning Streak scratch cards offer a 3-star prize, which gives players the opportunity to enter a draw to appear on the gameshow. Five players are selected to appear on the show where they can win up to €500,000 instantly.
