A VERY special céad míle fáilte was recently extended to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown’s newest Irish citizens.
The event, which was hosted by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, was part of the dlr Festival of Inclusion and was organised in conjunction with the DLR Ethnic Minority Integration Forum to celebrate those who have been granted Irish Citizenship and live in the county.
Speaking at the event, Cllr Tom Murphy, the cathaoirleach of the council, thanked the new Irish citizens for making a contribution to their communities and for choosing Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown as their home.
At the event, the new Irish citizens were presented with a painting from a local artist, Heather McKay.
Among the participants and invited guests were representatives of the Azerbaijan, Indian, Nigerian and Iraqi communities, as well as the Africa Centre, Human Appeal Ireland, New Communities Partnership, Women4Women and DLR Public Participation Network.
