A DUBLIN musician has scored a massive hit after one of his tracks was selected for use in a new romantic comedy featuring Hollywood stars John Malkovich, Glen Close and Minnie Driver.
The track
‘Wash My Hands’ was written and recorded by Kormac O’Halloran (37) from Stillorgan and will form part of the soundtrack for the film
‘The Wilde Wedding’ which is set for release later this year.
This has been a hugely successful year for Kormac who recently became one of 11 people to join the prestigious Nissan Generation Next ambassador programme, which helps people to follow their dream with the backing and support of Nissan.
Kormac is no stranger to Irish, UK and European audiences and a single he co-wrote with Swedish artist Aron Chup has already been used in several advertising campaigns, which helped him to notch up over 20 million Spotify streams.
Kormac’s latest album
‘Doorsteps’, which features legendary Trainspotting author, Irvine Welsh, Mercury Music Prize winner, Speech Debelle, Texan artist Micah P Hinson as well as rappers and opera singers, is also receiving rave reviews.
The talented musician is set to play a number of upcoming festivals starting with Groove at Killruddery House and Gardens in Bray, Co Wicklow on Saturday, August 19 where the two-day line-up also features Primal Scream, Hudson Taylor, Chasing Abbey, Hothouse Flowers and UB40.
Kormac has just returned from Bulgaria where he spent a number of weeks working on orchestration as part of an exciting new project, the details of which he hopes to announce later next month.
“Kormac is an exceptional talent who shares Nissan’s commitment to excellence and innovation,
? said James McCarthy, CEO of Nissan Ireland.
“We are delighted to welcome him to the Nissan Generation Next ambassador programme and to support him as he embarks on such a creative project.

The Wilde Wedding is the first time that John Malkovich and Glenn Close have been reunited on screen in 27 years.
They’re sharing a movie plot for the first time since the 1988 hit Dangerous Liaisons.
Recently 61-year-old John Malkovich and 68-year-old Glenn Close were seen on the same set together for the first time in 27 years.
The movie, Wilde Wedding, which is currently shooting in Westchester County, New York, is reportedly a comedy.
According to Showbiz 411, the plot has Close playing an ex-Hollywood legend who is getting married again at her Long Island estate.
Malkovich will play the part of one of her ex-husbands.
Star Trek veteran Patrick Stewart will also be participating in the film.Â
Even though both Malkovich and Close have been silver screen fixtures for many decades, the two stars haven’t slowed down.
Prior to Wilde Wedding coming together, Malkovich was shooting
‘Deepwater Horizon’, a film about the oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico by the same name.
Close has also been keeping quite busy, starring in last year’s
‘The Girl With All The Gifts’.
In that particular movie she played a doctor who accompanies a teacher and a mysterious little girl on a journey of survival in a dystopian future.
She also starred in the film
‘Albert Nobbs’ that was shot in Dublin in 2010.
The last time the two actors were on screen together for Dangerous Liaisons, they helped the film garner seven Academy Award nominations.
The period drama went on to win three Oscars, including best screenplay.
Many hope that this latest project will finally result in an acting Oscar for Close, who has yet to be honoured with the prestigious award.
