THE Southside benefited from a number of job announcements made across Dublin last week. Grafton Merchanting, the owner of the Chadwicks and Heiton Buckley brands, announced it will create 170 jobs over the next two years.
The jobs will result from an expansion of the business, driven by more construction and new homes, according to the company.
As well as a new Davies outlet in Sallynoggin, new branches being opened in Dublin include two Chadwicks Express branches in East Wall and Turvey.
And another 35 new jobs are on the way for Dublin, Galway and Cork as three new companies set up in Ireland.
The 12 new Dublin jobs are with software company KOCHAVA Inc, which is based at the Fitzwilliam Business Centre, Dublin 2.
The hub will be the company’s European HQ for product support and regional sales for clients and prospective clients. The main functions of the operations will include sales, marketing, and technical support.
And in another major move, 20 new Chopped outlets are set to open across Ireland in 2017 as the health food company doubles its Irish footprint from 20 to 40 outlets.
A total of 320 employees at Chopped will be joined by 320 new employees for Ireland and 110 new employees to support Chopped’s UK expansion.
The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, and Brian Lee, the managing director of Chopped, made the announcement last week.
This will see new outlets joining existing Chopped locations in Dublin.
Chopped has recently opened a new UCD outlet and this year will see continued expansion in Dublin.
“I welcome this news that Chopped is creating 320 jobs in 20 new outlets across Ireland,” Minister O’Connor said.
“Indigenous Irish businesses such as Chopped are important to the national economy.
“And they also make a valuable contribution to local areas through employment and expenditure.”
