GARDAÍ in Donnybrook investigating an armed robbery at the post office at Woodbine Park, Blackrock, in January of this year have arrested a male.
At approximately 2.30pm on January 19, a masked and armed man entered the Post Office. He threatened customers and staff and fired a number of shots before leaving the scene on foot.
No one in the post office was injured. As he fled the scene he was challenged by a male passer-by. Following a struggle, a firearm, described as a hand gun, was recovered.
The raider managed to flee the scene on foot. The passer-by sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
Last Monday, in Donnybrook, gardaí arrested a male in his 40s in connection with this investigation. He was detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Donnybrook Garda Station.
The man was due to appear before the courts this afternoon in connection with this robbery.
