SOUTHSIDE panto queen Twink has spoken of her devastation after her Knocklyon home was recently ransacked by burglars.

The TV and stage star, whose real name is Adele King, said: “The break in was an awful experience. My home was ransacked and they took some of my most treasured possessions, including my jewellery.

“They caused €10,000 worth of damage to my home.  While I am devastated at the loss of my jewellery, the loss of peace of mind was something I had not expected. But for anyone who has experienced it, it is absolutely dreadful not to feel safe in your own home.

Twink made her comments as she teamed up with PhoneWatch to increase the public’s awareness of the importance of a home security system. The company has provided her with its innovative Home Safety System, complete with a 24/7 monitoring service.

Twink added: “Having the PhoneWatch alarm installed is a wonderful relief to me and has helped restore my peace of mind which to me is the most precious thing.  I can now leave the house with much greater ease knowing that my home is completely protected by PhoneWatch.

“The message I want to give to other homeowners is don’t do what I did and become complacent. Regularly look at your home using the eyes of a potential intruder.  PhoneWatch data shows most burglars enter through the front or back door, so look at the locks on these doors, make sure your property is well lit up at night, and most importantly, protect your property with approved security installations such as a PhoneWatch monitored home security system.”

The popular entertainer is a resident of South County Dublin which recorded 1,463 burglaries by the end of quarter 3, 2015, according to the Central Statistics Office.
