Change of plan for Blackrock’s Frascati Shopping Centre

Change of plan for Blackrock's Frascati Shopping Centre

PLANS for Blackrock’s Frascati Shopping Centre are back on the drawing board, a local councillor has claimed.

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council had granted planning permission for a major re-development of the Frascati Shopping Centre in the Southside suburb.

However, this plan has been put on hold while a new planning application has been lodged with the council.

Cllr Victor Boyhan said the previous plan provided for an extensive expansion of the Frascati Blackrock Shopping Centre to provide for additional new retail shop units, a restaurant/café and additional car parking spaces, and was broadly welcomed.

“The rejuvenation of the Frascati Centre will see a greatly expanded Marks & Spencer’s store on the site and that’s very welcome,” he said.

“The planned works will see a reconfigured entrance and exit, along with additional car parking spaces to address local concerns about the traffic implication of the proposal.

“I raised a number of concerns on behalf of local residents at the pre-planning stage about the landscaping of the site, and I am pleased that a major landscape plan for the open spaces on the site has been agreed with the developers, as part of the planning consent.

“I would advise residents of Blackrock to inspect the new plans,” he added.

“These have been lodged with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and I would encourage interested parties to let their views be known within the next two weeks.”
