As part of an intelligence led investigation into the sale and supply of controlled drugs, Gardaí seized approximately €2.3 million worth of suspected cocaine, cannabis and MDMA in Blanchardstown on Friday (28th).
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said:
“The operation was carried out by the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) who observed and intercepted the handover of suspected drugs in a public place in Blanchardstown.
“Gardaí seized approximately 18 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €1.8 million. An additional 4 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €400,000 was seized from a vehicle located at the scene.
“Two males (aged in their 50s and 60s) were arrested and are currently detained in a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996.
“Investigating Gardaí conducted follow-up searches in both Dublin Metropolitan Region North and Dublin Metropolitan Region South.
“This resulted in Gardaí seizing an additional 5000 MDMA tablets, worth an estimated €50,000, and 4 kilograms of cannabis herb, worth an estimated €56,000.
“In total, the estimated value of the seizures is €2,306,000.
“The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
