The National Transport Authority (NTA) has announced that Route 24 will be realigned via Beneavin Road from Sunday, August 23.
To support this, NTA says it is undertaking a targeted flyer distribution to households in the area, while Dublin Bus will distribute information on board services operating locally.
Information on the realignment will also be displayed at bus stops in the area
The NTA also said realignment is being made in response to feedback from the community arising from the removal of services along this road under Phase 7 of the BusConnects network redesign last October.
The realigned service will benefit the hundreds of people who live in the immediate vicinity and will serve Beneavin De la Salle College, and the Beneavin House nursing home complex.
Route 24 was introduced last year to improve connectivity between Dublin Airport, Charlestown, Glasnevin, Phibsboro and the city centre.
The route has proven to be very successful, with over a million passengers using the service since its introduction last October.
Speaking on the changes, Jeremy Ryan, Director of Public Transport services at the NTA has said: “The BusConnects Network Redesign has been very successful with passenger growth in those areas where the new network is in place outstripping other areas by a considerable margin. When Beneavin area residents raised concerns with us after Phase 7 launch we made a commitment to take another look at it.
“We have done that, and by running Route 24 along Beneavin Road, we have come up with a way of addressing their concerns without unduly diluting the other benefits of the network in the area.
“The BusConnects Network Redesign is an ongoing programme, and we continue to monitor how the network is working for communities across Dublin. Where opportunities arise to make practical improvements to services, we will work with our operating partners to respond to the needs of passengers.”
The revised Route 24 will commence operation on Sunday, 23 August 2026.
Passengers are advised to check the updated Route 24 timetable and stop information ahead of the change.
