Foodies will get a chance to relish mouth-watering gastronomical delights at a brand new Northside festival kicking off tomorrow.
The inaugural Ballymun Good Food Festival runs from Wednesday, September 13 to Saturday, September 16, at a variety of Ballymun locales.
Food tastings from local cafés and bakeries, practical cooking tips from top chefs, grow your own advice from gardeners and much, much more are all on the menu this week.
The key day of the Festival is Friday, (15th) at the Axis Centre, starting with a Garden 2 Fork talk at from City Farm gardeners and chefs Tony O’Donnell and Tommy Butler (10.15am), followed by tips on nutrition from Aine and Joanna (11am), storytelling and chat from local chefs and food entrepreneurs (12 noon), advice on how to run a food truck business (12.30) and a second demo from the Food 2 Fork crew (1.30pm).
At the Ballymun Plaza, look out for the An Grían Pizza Truck, the City Farm Ballymun, Drumcondra Women’s Shed, the Sustainable Life School, Ballymun YAP Recovery Food, Yoga with Kay, the Boiler House Café, Blossom Artisan Bakery, Food Cloud and a Cook Book Exchange
In the afternoon (from 2.30pm), action moves to The Reco where young people are invited to food tastings and demos, sport and nutrition workshops, smoothie and milkshake making, face painting – and fun.
