Discharge of firearm and arrests in Finglas

Gardaí have arrested two men, one aged late 20’s and one aged mid 30’s, following reports of shots being fired at a house in Heathfield Drive, Finglas, at approximately 3:10am this morning.

Gardaí from Blanchardstown with the assistance of the Armed Support Unit attended the scene and discovered damage to the house by gunshot.

A garda spokesperson said:

“It was established that no person was present at the premises during the time of the incident.

“A car was observed leaving the scene at speed.

“This vehicle was located a short time later by Gardaí and a contained pursuit operation was undertaken.

“This operation was brought to a conclusion on the N4, Palmerstown.

“As a result of this operation the vehicle in question collided with an official Garda vehicle. GSOC have been notified of this incident.

“The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested at the scene under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

“They were taken to local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.”

A technical examination of the house and the vehicle has been carried out.

Investigations are ongoing.
