ENTERPRISE Rent-A-Car staff in Finglas has organised a food drive for World Food Day, which takes place on Wednesday (October 16).
The Finglas branch joined staff from 26 Enterprise Rent-A-Car centres around Ireland for the initiative.
Each branch provided a collection box for staff and business partners to donate non-perishable food items and household products for the drive, which is in support of the valuable work of social support agency Crosscare.
Enterprise is in the third year of a six-year partnership with Crosscare aimed at alleviating hunger and food poverty across Ireland.
The partnership with Crosscare is part of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation’s global ‘Fill Your Tank’ initiative. As part of the initiative, the company will provide US$60 million to address food insecurity in the countries where it has wholly owned business operations in Europe and North America.
Over the six-year partnership with Crosscare, Enterprise is donating a total of €120,000 in support of the charity’s work, as well as providing employee volunteer opportunities with Crosscare and organising events such as this month’s Food Drive in support of World Food Day.
“Our Food Drive in support of Crosscare is a great way for us to leverage the power of our branch-network across the country and all for a very good cause,” said George O’Connor, Managing Director of Enterprise Rent-A-Car Ireland.
“From the start, I wanted our partnership with Crosscare to be more than just about signing a cheque and the World Food Day Food Drive is a great way of doing just that.”
Dublin based Crosscare operates food banks that distribute food to those most in need.
In addition, the charity provides a range of social care, homeless services, community and youth work. Its work is not confined to the Dublin area as its food bank operation provides much needed supplies to hundreds of organisations in need across Ireland.
