MOUNTJOY Square Park welcomed crowds from near and far at the recent Festival of Nations.
Now in its fourth year, the event is organised by the Diversity and Multicultural Initiative; a voluntary group dedicated to promoting cultural diversity and celebrating the many ethnic heritages in Ireland today.
The free festival was bursting with fun and activities for all ages, and visitors took part in classes and watched performances of the Zouk Dance, Alma Bolivina, Bollywood Fusion, Casa Peru and Mundo Capoeira, among others.
There was also plenty of delicious food on offer and kids’ entertainment all day.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Paul McAuliffe said the festival was one of Dublin’s most vibrant and exciting public events.
“The creativity on display and the pride in cultures originating from far and wide are a joy to experience,” he said.
Brian Mongey, of the North East Inner City Initiative (NEIC), said his organisation was delighted to help bring the fantastic festival to life.
“It celebrates the very best of Dublin’s diversity and there is no place better to host Ireland’s Festival of Nations than Mountjoy Square Park,” he added.
Director of Ireland’s Festival of Nations, Carol Azams, said she was excited to see the festival come to life.
“From the parade of nations to the wide variety of live music and performance, there’s something new for everyone to discover,” she continued.
