DUBLIN Lord Mayor Paul McAuliffe was on home turf recently to present certificates to participants of one of the city’s best business courses.

Dublin North West Area Partnership has been running its evening business course for 25 years and it’s the top choice for people in the North Dublin area who are considering self-employment.

The course, which first ran in 1994 and has run every year since, provides practical guidance and information for anyone considering setting up a small business.

It runs on one evening a week over six weeks and concentrates on all the practical aspects of setting up a new small business.

It is delivered by 15 different tutors, each an expert in their own field, and also allows lots of opportunities for networking among the participants.

Over 1,200 people have now completed the course and a large number have gone on to set up successful businesses.

In fact three former graduates of the course have gone on to establish successful consultancy businesses and are now presenters on the course.

Participants on this year’s course were delighted when local man, Lord Mayor Cllr McAuliffe, turned up to present them with their certificates.

Cllr McAuliffe, who is a former employee of the Partnership, said it was a great honour to present the certificates and he wished everyone success in their future careers in business.

When asked how he found the course one participant, David, commented: “I was really impressed, I didn’t expect such a professional team. I have been on many courses and this was the best, it’s a great support.”

Another participant said: “I thought the course was exceptional, thorough, interesting, and varied. I really enjoyed it.”

The next course commences on September 19 in the head office of Dublin North West Area Partnership in Finglas. Early booking is advisable as places are filling fast.
