OVER 100 boys from St Finbarr's BNS in Cabra joined the professional cast of the Just Sing! show on stage on Valentine’s Day to sing their favourite songs.
In a fantastic show with a cast of professional performers that was presented by Doug Murray – aka Electric Eddie (RTÉ 2FM/Q102) – the boys came out together as group acts and joined the performers on stage to sing their chosen song.
With exciting audio visual production, big screen lyrics, high-energy audience interaction and a choreographed, sing-along style show all designed to support the kids, all the Northside pupils had to do was take their place alongside the professionals, enjoy the limelight and Just sing!
The boys rehearsed with the Just Sing! team as part of St Finbarr's 75th Anniversary celebrations for the weeks leading up to the event, and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
"We have been delighted to welcome the ‘Just Sing!’ team to our school,” said school principal, Aoife Whelan. “This year we are celebrating our 75th year and there are a number of events happening in our community throughout the year.
“This event was the perfect opportunity to showcase the talent of the boys who are currently in the school.
“We are also having an open day on April 12 at 9.30 am for any of our past pupils or friends of the school who would like to attend. All will be welcome."
Michelle Connolly Reaper of Just Sing! said the event was focussed on enjoyment.
"This is not X-Factor – this is a feel-good, non-competitive show,” she added. “The ethos is grounded in inclusivity with any child wishing to take part automatically in the show.
“For us the heart of this fundraising event is that it gives every child the chance to feel like a star!”
