LOCAL taxi drivers proved their charitable credentials last week when they donated their time to help give kids in Ballymun a great day out.
The drivers were giving a dig-out to support group FACT (Families Autism Coming Together), which is based in the Sillogue Neighbourhood Centre.
FACT is providing a great service, organising fitness classes for autistic children and their siblings and the group held its very first summer project this year.
Last Tuesday was a special day for FACT, with taxi drivers collecting FACT kids and adults from the Sillogue centre in cabs decked out with balloons to bring them on a special day out.
The cabs drove to Parnell Square for a disco and then they got a Garda escort out to Leopardstown Racecourse for a big party.
FACT meets every second Thursday from 7-8pm at Sillogue Neighbourhood Centre.
The meetings are held in an inclusive environment and a safe setting. There are different fun activities to suit the needs of all group members.
FACT also tries to promote awareness locally and to create a social network for all children and parents.
Anybody interested can go along. The next meetings are on September 27 and October 11. Email Factspg@hotmail.com or call Wendy Keating on 085-1498689 for more details.
