A BIG celebration took place on the Northside recently to mark the 60th wedding anniversary of a local couple.
Tom O’Connor (88) and his wife Pauline (85) met almost 70 years ago at Tom’s place of work and got married on August 6, 1958.
Pauline, who is originally from Harold’s Cross, was a dental nurse, while Tom, a native of Dolphin’s Barn, was a dental mechanic who only retired completely in December 2017.
Tom worked at Dorset Dental Laboratory, Upper Dorset Street, and retired from there at 75-years-of-age but continued to work from home on a part-time basis.
Tom is well known locally, especially in Omni Park Shopping Centre, where he goes on a daily basis to do the shopping. He also works as a volunteer at the Mater Hospital every Thursday showing patients and visitors where they need to go.
Tom and Pauline, who have lived their entire married life in Lorcan estate in Santry, have five daughters, 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren with another two on the way. They all gathered at the Clouds Suite in the Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport for the anniversary bash.
