THERE was a night of celebration in the Bonnington Hotel, Drumcondra, recently when Na Fianna honoured no less than seven championship-winning teams.
A hugely successful event that attracted a crowd of over 550 people centred around recognising the tremendous achievements of all Na Fianna teams in the year gone.
It turned out to be a very special night as players, friends and family joined together to salute the club’s winning teams.
The Magnificent Seven was made up of Senior 2 Football, U21A Hurling and Football, Minor A Hurling and Football, Junior E Hurling and Senior 7 Camogie teams.
Also honoured on the night were a number of Na Fianna’s inter county award winners. Two-in-a-row All Star and All-Ireland winner with Dublin’s Senior ladies footballers Leah Caffrey was one of them.
A great year was also celebrated for Sean Currie, who not only won the Friends Of Dublin Hurling Young Player of the Year award but he also won a Minor Star Award at this year’s inaugural Electric Ireland Minor Star Awards.
Aaron Byrne’s super achievement as Dublin U21 Footballer of the Year was also recognised.
Na Fianna gave a big thank you to special guest on the night Úachtarán Tofa Cumann Lúthchleas Gael John Horan and to the night’s MC, Gavin Duffy.
Also on the night, former club barman Pat Sullivan was inducted into Na Fianna’s Hall of Fame and club stalwart Martin Quilty was awarded Club Person of the Year.
“Thanks to all who made our Celebratory Dinner Dance a huge success and a great club occasion,” said Club PRO, Cormac O’Sullivan on behalf of the club.
“Thanks especially to our organising team, to the Bonnington Hotel and McGettigan’s Bar for their hospitality and for facilitating the event.”
