IRELAND’S first ever ‘Pupcake Day’ is taking place this Friday (October 6) and Northsiders are being asked to join in the fun.
Combining two of the greatest things in the world – cake and dogs – the event is being organised by Finglas based, Dogs Trust.
The canine charity is asking Northsiders to dust off their aprons and hold their own Pupcake Day bake sale in aid of Dogs Trust.
The Odlums Lady from TV3’s Ireland AM, Catherine Leyden, and her dog Gucci, are backing Pupcake Day and they had lots of fun with Dogs Trust residents, August and October, during its launch.
“Holding a bake sale is a great way to get people together at home or in your workplace, while also raising money for a worthy cause,” she said.
“Dogs love baked treats too, and there are some really gorgeous dog friendly recipes included in the downloadable Pupcake pack available from Dogs Trust, so why not include both human and doggy treats in your bake sale?”
Catherine showed how to turn plain ol’ cupcakes into Pupcakes at the Doggie Do with Dogs Trust event that took place in Herbert Park, last month.
Anybody from Great Irish Bakers or total shop-bought fakers can join in Pupcake day by selling their creations to raise much needed funds for all of the dogs in the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre.
Every single euro raised will go towards the lifesaving work of Dogs Trust and while Pupcake Day officially takes place on October 6, you can hold your bake sale on any day throughout October said the charity’s Executive Director, Suzie Carley.
“Our supporters’ sweet treats will help Dogs Trust change the lives of abandoned and neglected dogs all over Ireland – from rescue right through to the day they find their forever homes,” she added.
“Who would have thought a Pupcake could be so powerful!
“Dogs Trust receives no Government funding, so we rely on our wonderful supporters to help us save lives.
“By fundraising for Dogs Trust this Pupcake Day, dog lovers throughout Dublin will be baking a difference for all the dogs and puppies in our care.”
