Dancing queens

THERE was some great moves, plenty of fancy costumes at lots of local talent on display at the Irish Masters dance competition in the Tolka Rovers Sports Complex earlier this month.

The Northside soccer club on Griffith Avenue Extension was playing host to event, which was being held in Dublin for the first time ever.

The solo style event is run by World Dance Masters and is a qualifying event for World Championships that take place in Blackpool In August each year.

The competition sees top dancers from all over Ireland compete against each other for a chance to make the trip to Blackpool.

Dublin was represented by Gemz Dance School, who train at the Tolka Rovers Complex and had almost 30 dancers taking part over the weekend.

Amongst them was European champion Lexie Ryan and Abbie Goucher, who is a two-time world champion and five-time European champion.
