IT WAS a day to remember in a Finglas nursing home last week when the Lord Mayor Of Finglas and Miss Finglas, Chloe Dobbyn, dropped in for a visit.

Ardmore Lodge Care Home opened its doors last December and it’s now providing a home to over 80 residents on the Finglas Road.

That means Ardmore Lodge has probably more stories and decades of life experiences to tell than most places in Dublin, and the recent event was certainly a time to remember.

Tony Smullen from the Finglas Historical Society provided an excellent ‘reeling in the years’ slide show of Dublin for the residents, bringing back lots of memories to all.

Photos were also taken of resident Vera Doyle’s amazing paintings that were discovered hanging in her room by activities manager, Sharon Hyland.

Vera is a real talent and she told Sharon how she even once had her paintings commissioned.

The Ardmore Lodge’s oldest resident, Teresa Holden (a very young 98), is the home’s ‘Little Chicken’ and she was delighted to pose for photos with Lord Mayor Of Finglas, Linda Emmet, and Miss Finglas, Chloe Dobbyn.

Teresa has no plans of slowing down and asked Northside People photographer, Frank Malone, would he come back in two years time for her 100th birthday.
