Lucky locals in Lotto win

AN ESTATIC young couple from Dublin dropped into National Lottery headquarters last week to collect a cheque for €500,000 after winning the top prize in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday September 23.

The couple, who wish to keep their win private, bought their winning Quick Pick selection ticket in Dunnes Stores in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre on the day of the draw.

The lucky wife only realised their good fortune while procrastinating over some housework chores on the day after the draw.

“I was at home on the Saturday evening and I was looking at a massive heap of ironing which needed to be done,” she said.

“Before I started, I picked up my ticket and checked my numbers on the phone.

“I joked that if I won I would just buy new clothes for everyone instead of doing the ironing.

“Sure enough, there were my EuroMillions Plus numbers all in a row.

“I was absolutely speechless. I had to keep checking the ticket all weekend to make sure I wasn’t making a mistake.

“It was only when I contacted the National Lottery first thing on Monday morning, that I let myself believe it was true’ she said.

On their plans for their winnings, the winning mother said the only thing they needed was a proper family home.

“My husband and I got married and had a family when we were quite young so we were never really in a position to save for a mortgage,” she said.

“We’re really looking forward to going shopping for a family home.”
