Local residents, volunteers, and Community Centre users came together on Saturday, September 19, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm, for a community “Meitheal Day” aimed at refreshing and improving the Centre through painting, cleaning and gardening work.
The event brought the traditional Irish Meitheal spirit of neighbours helping neighbours to a hands-on day of practical improvement.
The unveiling of the Bayside Community Mural by artist in residence, Meera Raman with daughter Arya and contributors who designed the piece, Kerri Boyce, Karel Boyce, Charlotte Duffy, Chloe Stafford.
Volunteers worked across three main streams, painting and appearance, cleaning and decluttering, and gardening and biodiversity, with experienced leads on hand to guide tasks safely.
The Deputy Lord Mayor, Cllr Luke Corkery, Fingal County Council representatives, TDs and public representatives also joined to see the community’s efforts first-hand.

“Bayside Meitheal Day – Let’s refresh our Centre together” is the theme for the day, which ran from a lunchtime welcome and safety briefing through an afternoon of work streams, refreshments, and a closing walkabout with photographs and a raffle draw to support the day’s costs.
The Meitheal is supported by a grant for equipment and materials from Fingal County Council’s Community Fund.
