Heneghan welcomes removal of Clontarf coastline sandbags

Independent TD for Dublin Bay North, Barry Heneghan, has welcomed the long-awaited removal of the temporary sandbags along the Clontarf coastline.

Heneghan said, “myself and councillor Kevin Breen are delighted to see the temporary alternative flood-defence solution now being installed, finally replacing the sandbags that have plagued the community for 14 years”

The independent TD said “it’s great to see the alternative to the temporary sandbags now being installed. A huge thanks to the dedicated staff in DCC, to Minister Boxer Moran , and to the CRA , CBA and Clontarf Tidy Towns for their patience and hard work.”

Heneghan said, “these sandbags have plagued our community for far too long and I’m delighted to have delivered on my promise to get rid of them just as I said I would before the election.”

The Dublin Bay North TD stated, “this is a real win for Clontarf and all neighbouring communities who enjoy the seafront. It makes our coastline safer, restores the look and feel of the area, and shows the progress we can make when the community is genuinely heard.”

“I will keep working with Minister Moran and all local reps to secure long-term flood defences and the wider infrastructure improvements our area needs.”
