Fingal County Council Arts Office invites applications for the Fingal Artist Mentoring Programme, a new year-long, developmental one to one Artist Mentoring Programme.
Open to artists in the Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance at any career stage, the programme is led by Sharon Murphy and takes place monthly from October 2024 – October 2025.
Sharon Murphy brings over 30 years of experience leading in the performing and visual arts in diverse contexts – national cultural institutions, theatre companies, galleries, local authorities and public art/per cent for art – as director, producer, curator, commissioner, theatre practitioner, educator, mentor and most recently as a visual artist.
The six professional artists will be selected to participate in Fingal Artist mentoring Programme, a professional development initiative where an experienced mentor creates the environment for the artist to explore, test, probe, and create new pathways.
This mutually engaged mentoring relationship aims to foster the artistic, personal, and professional growth of the artist at a time of change in their practice.
The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Brian McDonagh commented “The Fingal Artist Mentoring Programme is a reflection of Fingal County Councils commitment to nurturing artists within our community.
“By supporting local artists at a pivotal moment in their careers, the programme will enable six artists to explore new horizons and continue to contribute to the cultural fabric of Fingal.”
Speaking about the award, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly said “Supporting the arts is crucial for the development of a vibrant and dynamic community.
“The Fingal Artist Mentoring Programme aligns with the Council strategic goals of fostering creativity and innovation across the region.”
Sarah O’Neill, County Arts Officer commented, “This mentoring programme is a unique opportunity for artists at various stages of their careers to receive personalised support from a highly experienced mentor.
“It is designed to be a transformative journey, where artists can gain insights, refine their practices, and build sustainable careers.
“We look forward to engaging with a diverse range of artists and supporting their creative growth.”
The closing date for the submission of applications is Friday 27th September 2024 at 4pm.
