As many people would know, so many teenagers have become reliant on their smartphones and find it difficult to be separated from them.
But a few weeks ago, for charity, the 3rd years in Chanel College, including myself, gave up our phones during the school day to raise money for Daffodil Day.
So, lets answer the question on how hard it is to live without our phones.
At the start of the day our phones were taken off us and put into a box.
When I say it pained me to hand it up, I mean it!
We were in the Colin room, a large common room, for the first 2 classes where we got a treat of a cooked breakfast (lovingly made by our teachers) and we had a fun team quiz.
It was dreadful that we couldn’t use our phones to check the time or even just have them in our pockets, but we pushed through the pain and went on to breaktime.
It felt strange not to have my phone on break because normally I would message my friends over break and play games on it, however, today we couldn’t do that at all.
We moved onto our next two classes and surprisingly, it didn’t feel as bad anymore, and I actually felt freer without the distraction of my phone in my pocket.
At the end of the day, we finally got our phones back and a wave of relief washed over our shoulders when we picked them up.
It felt nice that we got to do all this for a good cause, and it made us realise how much we truly rely on our phones.
Thanks to our sponsor- we raised €680 for Daffodil Day- a very worthy cause.
