Howth Christmas Eve Concert with St. Marys International Children’s Choir

At 5pm on Christmas Eve a Crib Service with St. Mary’s International Children’s Choir will take place at St. Mary’s Church, Howth.

The St. Marys International Children’s choir began this October (2022)  and it’s membership is of both Irish and Ukrainian children and is expertly conducted by Ms Yulia Kostomarova.

The Christmas Eve program includes carols and Christmas music in Ukrainian and English.

Speaking about the choir, St. Mary’s Rector Rev’d Philip Heak said:

“Since July, Ukrainians have found a warm welcome at St. Mary’s church.

“We operate a Drop in centre, Conversation classes,  a ‘Free Shop’ with emergency supplies and work closely with the Irish Red Cross and Irish Refugee Council.

“Yulia Kostomarova, joined us from Kiev and as both organist and choir director is inspirational in the work that she achieving.

“The development of the International Children’s choir is an exciting development and brings together both Ukrainian and Irish in music and song.

“There is a joy in singing and it is wonderful to see the children participating. What better way than music to draw people together in community ” added the Howth Reverend.

The Crib service begins at 5.00pm and entrance is complimentary.

All are welcome.

The Friday Hub and Thursday Conversation Classes at St Mary’s Parish centre will take a break over Christmas and recommence the week of the 2nd February.
