Irish Water progressing with watermain works in Brackenstown

Irish Water working in partnership with Fingal County Council is constructing almost 1.5km of new watermain along the Brackenstown road in order to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area.

The works, being delivered by GMC Utilities on behalf of Irish Water are already underway and are scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks.

The works are taking place along Brackenstown Road from the St. Cronans Avenue Junction to the Church Road junction and are being delivered under the Irish Water Leakage Reduction Programme.

Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact on customers.

Traffic management will be in place during this time.

Local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

Irish Water say customers in the following locations may be impacted by disruption to their supply tomorrow Thursday 12th from 8am to 5pm; Brackenstown Road, Church Road, Windmill Avenue, St Columba’s Rise, Rathbeale Crescent, Glasmore Park, Glebe Hill and surrounding areas.

A spokesperson for Irish Water said:

“We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.

“This project is one example of how Irish Water is working in partnership with Fingal County Council to reduce leaks every day.

“Fixing leaks can be complicated with over 63,000km of water pipe in Ireland.

“Our National Leakage Reduction Programme helps provide a more reliable water supply to Irish communities, reduce high levels of leakage and improve water quality.

“Irish Water is working at this time, with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services.

“Irish Water would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.

“Irish Water is working proactively with our delivery partners and as part of a multi-agency working group to ensure that our construction works are carried out in a controlled and safe manner, in keeping with Government and HSE guidelines to protect workers, their families and the broader community.”
