Check out this incredible footage of Harmonstown Station on its opening day on January 7, 1957.
The first sequence is recorded on the Howth Road at the entrance to the Ennafort Estate, followed by footage of steam and diesel trains arriving at the new station.
The film was recorded by the late PJ Currivan, Trustee of the Irish Railway Record Society (IRRS). Harmonstown remains a busy suburban station on the DART network. The station was the last one built by the Great Northern Railway prior to its dissolution.
