A MISS Ireland 2019 finalist from Sutton is putting the final touches to a charity event which will celebrate mental health and inner beauty.
Megan Hurley (19), who is Miss Dublin North, will host ‘Beauty, Inside and Out’ in Marco Pierre White’s Courtyard in Donnybrook on Saturday, August 31. Proceeds from the brunch, which runs from 12 noon-4pm, will go to children’s charity Variety Ireland. Tickets are priced €25.
The busy young woman is also gearing up for a Breast Cancer Ireland outreach programme where she will visit Irish transition year students and promote awareness of the condition and the importance of early detection.
The Blackrock College business graduate balances her philanthropic work with part-time positions at SPIN 1038, 98FM and VERVE Marketing in their respective promotions teams.
Megan has been greatly inspired by her mother, Aisling Hurley, who is CEO of Breast Cancer Ireland.
“She is an incredibly successful woman and empowers women every single day in the work that she does with Breast Cancer Ireland and beyond,” Megan says. “She has given women, diagnosed with breast cancer a new lease of life and a friend for life. She doesn’t realise that the work that she does changes the lives of hundreds of women every day. She truly is the greatest person in the world.”
Megan, who has openly discussed her own struggles with anxiety as a teenager, plans to use her time on the Miss Ireland campaign trial to champion inner confidence and self-care.
The Sutton beauty will be competing with 29 other contestants for the Miss Ireland title on September 14 at the Helix in Dublin.
