THE Irish Coast Guard in Howth recently came to the rescue of two people and a dog after they were cut off by a rising tide.
While out on exercise, the Irish Coast Guard boat from Howth was tasked to the scene of the incident. The crew immediately responded and began a search for the casualties. Fortunately, they were quickly located, taken aboard the boat and returned to a safe location ashore.
A spokesperson for the Irish Coast Guard said the individuals involved did the right thing by calling 112 when they realised they were in trouble.
He said: “Be careful when walking on shorelines as tides can rise quickly and areas can be cut off faster than you expect.”
