A NORTHSIDE school was celebrating last week after landing another basketball triumph on the national stage.
Holy Faith Clontarf defeated St Vincent’s SS, from Cork, 73-40 in the Subway Schools U19 A Girls Cup Final at the National Basketball Arena (NBA) in Tallaght. It was Holy Faith’s second Under 19A Girls Subway School Cup title in three years.
A clinical and polished display saw the result put beyond doubt by the midway point of the third quarter.
Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Irish international Bronagh Power Cassidy drove her side forward early on in the decider. She was well supported with stunning performances from her co-captain Maeve O’Seaghdha, Niamh Kenny and Elizabeth Black in an excellent team performance.
Afterwards Holy Faith head coach Jerome Westbrooks said: “When you win you always feel good, and I feel real good right now. We played really well and in fairness we have a really strong crew in Bronagh, Niamh, Maeve and Elizabeth. They’re really experienced and it’s hard for teams to match up with them. It makes my job really easy.”
