THE annual Dublin Airport Nicola Radford Charity Cycle will take place on Saturday September 29.
This will be Dublin Airport’s eight cycle and is a hugely successful fundraising event for the airport’s Charity of the Year programme.
Last year over €18k was raised by more than 160 cyclists and the aim this year is to raise more money for daa’s three staff charity partners: Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice, Snowflakes Autism Support and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).
The cycle is named in memory of Nicola Radford who passed away following a short battle with cancer in 2015.
Nicola was a colleague, friend, a charity champion and one of the co-organisers of the event in the past.
Dublin Airport event organiser Bernie McNally said: “Every year our colleagues come up with a variety of fundraising initiatives for our very worthy charities.
“However, there is something a little more special about the Nicola Radford Cycle and each year we see more and more colleagues getting involved either cycling or raising money.
“There is great camaraderie and a healthy dose of competition among colleagues each year. I want to wish all participants the best of luck and hope we have good weather on the day.”
The cycle encompasses both 60k and 100k routes, starting and finishing at Castlemoate House, Dublin Airport and will take participants through picturesque towns and villages of north county Dublin and Meath along the way.
Cyclists will stop for lunch at Tayto Park, before returning to Castlemoate House for some well-deserved refreshments.
Registration is €30 plus booking fee and all proceeds go to the daa staff charities, as all event costs have been kindly sponsored and funded by sponsors.
