IN 1999 Northside People photographer Darren Kinsella took a photo for this newspaper of four generations of a local family at a christening in Beaumont.

Twins Abi and Lucy Daly were being christened at St Fiachras’s Church. Also in the photo that day was the girls’ mother, Susan Daly, Susan’s mother Margaret Walsh and Margaret’s mother Mary Dolan.

Eighteen years later the five family members, from Artane, were reunited on the Northside for Margaret and David Walsh’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Darren Kinsella attended the celebrations in the Hollybrook Hotel, Clontarf, last month, and recreated the photo taken on that day  18 years ago.

Margaret said her daughter Susan and the twins travelled over from Spain, where they live, specially for the occasion.

“It was fantastic to have everyone together again,” she said.

“I have the original photo that was published in the Northside People, in 1999, in a frame, but I couldn’t believe it when my daughter Susan said she still had the original article.”

The event in the Hollybrook turned out to be a double celebration. While Margaret and David were marking their 50th wedding anniversary, Abi and Lucy turned 18 on May 26.
