A NORTHSIDE woman will this week bid to be crowned ‘Most Beautiful Girl in the World’ at a pageant in Dubai.
Keara Lydon, from Malahide, is representing Ireland on International Women’s Day (March 8) and will compete against women from 31 other countries after winning the ‘Most Beautiful Girl in Ireland’ competition in Limerick last November.
The success does not end there for Keara, as she was voted Swimsuit Model of the Month for Australian website StarCentral Magazine, as well as being an ambassador for Gosh Cosmetics and Vincere Fitness Clothing. Her agent in Ireland is Suzzie D Model Management.
Speaking to StarCentral Magazine this month after winning her accolade, Keara revealed her love for her work as the subject of photographs.
“I just love the camera which I have a natural connection with,” she said. “There is just something about being at the other end of the lens. I feel so at ease. From an early age I always wanted to be a model.
“What you put in is what you get out. I am a firm believer that hard work always pays off. Love what you do, be passionate about it and it shouldn’t feel like work.” Keara also spoke about potentially earning the title of ‘Most Beautiful Girl in the World’ and said even taking part has already been so positive for her. “It’s an awesome opportunity,” she said. “This has begun to open many doors for me. I am so excited about the year ahead of me.” Keara has lived quite the travelled life so far, being born in South Africa, raised in Dubai and now living at the family home in north county Dublin.
Keara believes the special bond with those closest to her is the reason for her rise to fame in an industry that can sometimes be brutal. “My parents have also taught me to be compassionate, kind and generous,” she said. “It is so vitally important to have that kind of support. I am really blessed to have a family like I do. My family believes in me and backs me all the way. They encourage me to be the best person I can be.”
Keara is also a qualified make-up artist and is studying to be a fitness instructor at the Fitness Institute in Kinsealy. If she wins the title in Dubai, it would be a lovely present as she celebrates her 19th birthday on Thursday (March 9).
