Puppies seized after being shipped to UK from Dublin Port

Some of the puppies seized yesterday

THESE adorable pups were seized in the UK yesterday after being shipped from Dublin Port.

The DSPCA today expressed its delight with the success of last night’s operation, which resulted in the seizure of 96 puppies by the RSPCA from two individuals who were attempting to import them illegally into Britain.

The operation was conducted as part of Operation Delphin, a collaboration between the DSPCA, Ulster SPCA, ISPCA, RSPCA, Scottish SPCA, Stena Line, Garda and Customs and Tax authorities in Ireland and the UK.

Operation Delphin aims to bring an end to the illegal puppy trade into the UK from Ireland.

The puppies have now been returned to Ireland and are in the care of the DSPCA. Several of the young dogs are ill and are undergoing veterinary treatment in the charity’s shelter in Rathfarnham.

The puppes are not available for rehoming or reservation at present. Updates will be available on the charity’s website www.dspca.ie
