Northside cousins start big adventure

THERE was a sense of familiarity for five Northside children when they all started at Scoil Bhríde Junior National School, Donaghmede last week.

Erin McCarthy, Ella Cush, Ryan Dillon, Emily Hennessy and Zoe Hennessy are all first cousins.

Louise Cush, mother of Ella, said all five were born within a few months of each other and are really close.  “They attended Madeline’s Preschool together in Donaghmede, so it’s terrific they are beginning their new journey with each other,” she said.

“We decided to put them in separate classes so they can make their own individual friends and not just count on each other.”

Louise praised her mother and father, Marie and Tony McCarthy, who have 13 grandchildren in total.

“They both looked after each and every one of those children as soon as we went back to work after maternity leave,” she said.

“My mam and dad are fantastic. For the past 10 years they have always been minding and looking after their grandchildren.

“You wouldn’t see our mam in a shop without a buggy to this day. She is commonly known by her neighbours and friends as ‘Super Gran’. The four of us (my sisters and brother) would be lost without them.”
