Budding gardener Liam is a seasonal sign of a super summer ahead

Woodies gardening expert, Brian Burke.

A summer of fun is just around the corner and in a seasonal reminder, Woodie’s DIY, Home and Garden are back with their New Best Friend summer ad which returned to our TV screens last week.

In this heart-warming piece, an imaginative little boy called Liam is showing someone around the garden – although we are not quite sure who he is chattering away to.

As he meanders around, exploring the garden’s various nooks and crannies, it’s clear that the garden is at the centre of Liam’s everyday adventures.

After an epic expedition around the garden, Liam reveals who he has been showing around; in the cart he is dragging behind him sits a small potted plant.

Liam gently picks up the little pansy and welcomes the little flower to its new home. Made in partnership with Irish based agency Rothco Accenture Interactive, this ad is all about encouraging children and families to plant together – a hobby that will grow with them as they get older, becoming a skill they will have for life.

And what better way to get your children to follow in adorable gardener Liam’s footsteps than getting involved in Woodie’s on-going Budding Gardeners competition?

Little Liam looks after his potted plant pal.

The third task is under way as Budding Gardeners are asked to plant a Micro Meadow to win a school tour worth €1,000.

There’s still time to go back and complete the first two tasks too so you can be in with a chance of winning the grand prize of a €2,500 garden makeover for your school!

Woodie’s gardening expert and Budding Gardeners’ judge Brian Burke has provided plenty of inspiration on Woodie’s Instagram @woodies_ireland with helpful and easy-to-follow tutorials for the tasks.

You can track your Budding Gardeners’ progress by logging on to www.woodies.ie and uploading to their profile. Further details and all terms and conditions can be found on www.woodies.ie/budding-gardeners.

Meanwhile, Woodie’s summer range has everything needed to get the most out of the garden and help make it a summer to remember.

There are products to suit every type of garden space, including smaller furniture sets that are great for even the smallest of spaces.

There’s also plenty for bigger gardens with stylish outdoor furniture that can transform outdoor spaces into an extra room for the family, and even pizza ovens and barbecues for evening or afternoon sessions in the sun.
