Dogs Trustival
Dogs Trust will celebrate a decade of rescuing and rehoming dogs in Ireland with a fabulous doggie festival on Sunday, August 18.
The inaugural Dogs Trustival will be jam-packed with all things doggie with an array of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
Events include training displays with some of the most talented Dogs Trust residents and their canine carers, a ‘Tailwaggers Walk’ market full of doggie goodies and exhibitions, delicious street food vendors and a children’s ‘education corner’ with face-painting.

The Big Grill Festival
Europe's largest BBQ & Craft Beer Festival returns to Herbert Park, Ballsbridge, from August 15-18.
The festival celebrates the art of cooking with fire & smoke bringing chefs, cooks and pitmasters from Ireland, UK and further along with over 20,000 visitors to smell, taste, discover and learn about all kinds of barbecuing, grilling, smoking, vegetables, meats, delicacies and drinks.
Over 20 restaurants join for the weekend, with the only rule being they must cook with live fire using natural charcoal and wood only; no gas or electricity.
Bark in the Park
A 3km Bark in the Park sponsored dog walk takes place in the Phoenix Park on Sunday August 18. Hosted by the Irish Blue Cross, it starts at 3pm at Acres Road cycle track opposite the Papal Cross. It will be an afternoon of fun, laughs and plenty of barks with prizes for best bark, waggiest tail, happiest smile etc. Register online at www.barkinthepark.ie.
Hotel seeks real Buswells stories
Picking up on the theme of this year’s Heritage Week Past Times/Pastimes, Bethencourt Productions is putting together a show with music, comedy and drama about Buswells Hotel through the years to highlight its significance as a landmark hotel, meeting point and place to pass the time.
‘Honeymoon & Heartbreak’ is the name of the Cabaret and the event is free but is ticketed through Eventbrite. It takes place in Buswells Hotel, Molesworth Street, on Sunday, August 18 at 7pm.
The Weaving Paintings
Farmleigh Gallery is presenting an exhibition of works by Gareth Jenkins, Kohei Nakata and Masashi Suzuki until September 8.
The Weaving Paintings by Kohei Nakata physically describe the action of painting lines in pearl acrylic that appear to weave between each other. The choice of gesture is in contrast to the hard-edged lines and colour in the paintings of Gareth Jenkins. Both process driven surfaces reference structure and form.
These wall-based abstract paintings work alongside with the philosophy of Japanese aesthetics that are exemplified in the cha wan (tea bowls) of Masashi Suzuki. Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
Sweet Gregory Porter Melodies
The Sugar Club, the Dublin venue where Gregory Porter first played to an Irish audience in 2013, will host a unique tribute to the award-winning artiste on August 16.
‘Take me to the Alley – A Night of Gregory Porter’ will be performed by Irish jazz singer Bob McQuaid (25), known as Bobby Mc.
The Meath musician and actor created his new show in recognition of the charismatic jazz singer he cites as one of his music heroes.

Flower Show in Coolock
All are invited to attend the Dublin 5 Flower Showwhich will take place on the afternoons of Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18 in Chanel College, Coolock Village.
