Howth TradFest 2019
Howth TradFest takes place from July 5-7 and will feature 17 gigs (14 of them free entry) and an open Trad session trail where the organisers hope Trad musicians and singers from all over will join in and share their tunes.
John Sheahan, the last remaining member of legendary group ‘The Dubliners’, is headlining this year’s Traditional Music and Ballad festival.

Wood Quay Summer Sessions
The Wood Quay Summer Sessions return for a third year of free concerts from 1pm to 2pm every Thursday throughout July. Every week, music fans will have the opportunity to see new and upcoming, as well as established acts, from across a wide range of genres performing in the wonderful setting of the outdoor Wood Quay Amphitheatre in Dublin’s city centre. The first event on July 4 features Erica-Cody at 1pm followed at 1.30pm by JyellowL.
Dublin Psychic & Holistic fair
There’s free entry to the Psychic & Holistic Fair at the Hilton Hotel, Malahide Road, Northern Cross, Dublin 13 on Sunday, July 7.
Running from 11am-7 pm there will be over 45 stands showcasing some of Ireland’s top mediums, psychics, Tarot and angel card readers who will be giving one-to-one private and personal readings on the day.
A selection of national and local holistic therapists will also be available.
Science Gallery After Hours
Science Gallery Dublin will host the first of a series of late events for 15 to 18-year-olds on the evening of Friday, July 5.
The events celebrate the role of emerging technology in society, and bring young adults face-to-face with artists, scientists and designers working in the areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality, healthcare innovation and art.

Rose and Sweet Pea Show
Balbriggan and District Horticultural Society is holding a Rose and Sweet Pea Show at Ardgillan Castle on Sunday, July 7.
Flowers and pot plants for exhibiting can be entered before 12.30pm. The show is open to the public from 2.30pm to 5pm and admission is free. It is a good year for roses so there should be plenty of exhibits at the show.
The rose garden in Ardgillan is currently looking exquisite with the garden in full bloom!
Bullfight on Third Avenue
Bewley’s Café Theatre presents the World Premiere of Bullfight on Third Avenue by Eddie Naughton from July 8 to August 3.
On the eve of Ernest Hemingway's departure to cover the Spanish Civil war in 1937, he met Great Gatsby author, Scott Fitzgerald, in Tim Costello's bar, New York.
No one knows what transpired at this meeting – until now.
Songs Across the Sea
Distinguished conductor John Daly Goodwin, a Great Grand Nephew of much-loved songwriter and artist Percy French, will bring the A Viva Voce Festival Chorus of New York to Dublin for a performance of Songs Across the Sea on Friday, July 5 at 8pm at St John the Evangelist Church, Park Avenue, Sandymount, Dublin 4. Tickets (€20) are available from www.Eventbrite.ie and at door. The programme will include the conductor’s own arrangements of songs by Percy French including such favourites as The Mountains of Mourne and Are Ye Right There, Michael.
Brian Gallagher in exhibition
The Red Bank 1736 Tavern is presenting artist Brian Gallagher in an exhibition showcasing his work in the media of Scraperboard, Drypoint and Wood Engraving.
Brian works in various media from computers to traditional paint on canvas and his work has appeared in many areas including advertising, design, book publishing and museum design.
Gallagher shows his work regularly with the Royal Hibernian Academy and Royal Ulster Academy in their annual exhibitions. He also exhibits regularly both nationally and internationally.
The exhibition runs until Tuesday, July 9, from 5 – 11pm.
Ireland: A Survivor’s Guide
‘Ireland: A Survivor’s Guide’ continues to be a hit at the International Bar in Dublin city centre.
Portmarnock brothers Seán and Niall McDonagh perform the energetic, inventive physical comedy show which has been going down a storm with tourists and locals alike.
The show will be adding a second venue (The Sugar Venue) this month.
