Dublin Fringe Festival
Fringe is about discovery and the 2018 programme is joyful, disruptive and fizzing with ideas. It’s a festival of firsts – each of the 80 events is brand new and happening in Dublin for the very first time this September.
There will be an interactive mobile sculpture roaming the city for 16 days and 10 free shows, from outside the GPO to inside your headphones; so you’ll find Fringe around every corner over the next couple of weeks.

Parkrun
All walkers and runners are welcome to take part in parkruns every Saturday at 9.30am at a number of local venues including Tolka Valley Park, St Anne’s Park, Fairview Park, Poppintree Park, Darndale Park, Father Collins Park, Newbridge Demesne and Ardgillan Demesne.
Parkrun is a timed 5k walk/run and is a completely free to participate community-based, volunteer-led initiative, and a great way to meet people and keep fit.
Junior Parkruns for four to 14-year-olds take place on Sundays at a number of venues over a 2km distance. For further details and to register, visit www.parkrun.ie
Sean O’Casey Festival
The Sean O’Casey Theatre, supported by Dublin City Council, is delighted to present the inaugural Sean O’Casey Festival, ‘Abercorn to Hawthorn’ this week.
The festival is bringing Sean O’Casey home, back to the community that inspired so much of his work and where most of his characters were born and reared.
For two weeks, September 11-21, the Sean O’Casey Theatre in East Wall will be alive with an exciting mixture of events, performances, discussions and craic.
10 Songs to Die For
Direct from a sold out show at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2018 Owen O’Neill brings his new show ‘10 Songs to Die For’ to the Viking Theatre Clontarf for three nights only from Monday to Wednesday, September 17-19.
O'Neill gives a hilarious – and sometimes touching – account of his teenage years, supported by an eclectic soundtrack from the ‘60s and the ‘70s.

Aviation exhibition
Jessy Faulkner and Suzanna Decan celebrate the opening of the ‘Wings of Ireland: A People’s History of Irish Aviation’ exhibition at The Little Museum.
Visitors to the exhibition can follow the flight of Irish aviation from the earliest aviators to the world-class industry we experience today.
The Little Museum is situated in a beautiful Georgian townhouse right in the heart of Dublin’s city centre. The exhibition will run until November.
Look Beyond
Orlaith Donoghue, Head of Occupational Therapy at St John of God Hospital, Emma Balmaine , CEO of St John of Gods and Rick Rossiter, See Change Ambassador, are pictured at the launch of a photo exhibition entitled ‘Look Beyond’. The exhibition is a series of photographs taken by 16 people who have experienced mental health difficulties and will be on display in the hospital until Friday, September 14.
Dextra
Ballymun music legends Dextra are performing a one-off special celebration gig in the Axis Theatre on Friday, September 14 to help raise funds for The STAR Project, which has offered drug and alcohol services in Ballymun and surrounding areas since 1998. Dextra are a high-energy band who excel in the live environment, playing an Indie Pop/Rock mix of music. It promises to be a great night of music and celebration with everyone connected to the project both past and present. It’s happening in Axis at 7.30pm. Dublinternational
Formerly BlueFire Street Fest, Dublinternational is a World Cultures multidisciplinary arts festival that’s happening at Smithfield Square on Saturday September 15.
The festival is centered around audience interaction and participation, and is designed to provide cultural activities of interest for all ages. It’s free and starts at 2pm.
The Dublin Anarchist Bookfair
This is billed as the largest regular gathering of grassroots activists and campaign groups in Ireland. It includes a series of talks and workshops that are both interesting and useful to experienced campaigners as well as those who are totally new to thinking about politics.
There’s also a wide selection of stalls and books to browse. More event details will follow before the weekend.
